- MidWavi Pro - - Shareware For Windows 95/98/Me/NT 4/2000 & XP (all with IE5 or later...IE6 recommended) - **** PLEASE READ INSTALL.TXT **** ** PLEASE BE SURE TO READ WHATSNEW.TXT AND THE ON-LINE HELP FOR FULL DETAILS ** MidWavi Pro (so called because it can play Mid, Wav and Avi files) can also handle ASF - AU - MED - MPEG - MOV - WMA & WMV too - *.asf, *.au, *.med, *.mpg, *.dat, *.mp2, *.mp3, *.mov, *.wma amd *.wmv) is a full 32 bit multimedia program (Windows 95/98/Me/NT 4/Windows 2000 and XP only) capable of playing audio CD's and sound files as well as displaying video (*.avi, MPEG *.mpg & *.dat and *.mov) and various graphic files (*.bmp, *.fif, *.ico, *.jpg, *.wmf). MidWavi Pro requires two external libraries for some of its functionality but because these must reside in the same directory as MidWavi Pro, it is very easy to install/remove (please read Install.Txt). For your protection, the MidWavi Pro download ZIP file is protected with AV (Authenticity Verification) codes. Whilst there should never be a problem with a ZIP downloaded directly from the MidWavi Pro web site (www.midwavi.com), if ever you receive an error message when unzipping, do not use the file. Also, when unzipping, any file names that do not have -AV at the end will not have come from TSoft Ltd. If you currently have version 2.58 or later on your system, please uninstall it before installing this version. To INSTALL MidWavi Pro, run the SETUP.EXE program and follow the prompts. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- MidWavi Pro currently comprises: Mandatory files: MidWavi.Exe - Main program MidWavi.Hlp - MidWavi Pro Help DECO_32.DLL - Library for FIF graphics support MEDPDLL.DLL - OctaMED library for MED sound support UnzDLL.DLL - UnZip library ZipDLL.DLL - Zip library DiscIdCalcDLL.DLL - freedb library REGISTER.EXE - Used to register MidWavi Pro with Kagi in the USA midwavis.ini - Contains information on freedb Servers (sites) midwavi.ini - Contains information on Audio CD's Additional information: Install.Txt - Please read this first! ReadMe.Txt - This file WhatsNew.Txt - Details on all the changes made to MidWavi Pro FAQ for MidWavi Pro.Txt - Frequently Asked Questions MidWavi Pro Play Lists.Txt - Full details on creating and using Play & Display Lists OctaMED MED sound files and MidWavi Pro.Txt - Please read this regarding MED sound files. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All of the above files will be installed into your MidWavi Pro sub directory and if you didn't stipulate one, the default location is: "Program Files\TSoft Ltd\MidWavi Pro\". Although not actually vital, it is recommended that you keep REGISTER.EXE (its only about 126K) in your MidWavi Pro directory for registration and future upgrade registrations. It should be pointed out that REGISTER.EXE is never actually used at all by MidWavi Pro, but MidWavi Pro expects it to be present if you take the "Register MidWavi Pro" option on the Help menu. If you remove REGISTER.EXE, the worst that will happen is that MidWavi Pro will report that it cannot find it! In this case, you will either have to copy it back (from the original zip file) into the MidWavi Pro directory, or, run it yourself from where-ever. Apart from an automatic "TSoft Ltd" Registry entry, only the above files are required, and NOTHING else is sprayed all over your system! An extremely powerful search option is available to you for finding sound, video and graphic files (including searching CD drives and mapped network drives). See WharsNew.txt and on-line Help for details. You can elect to have an "Endless Loop" or "Random" sound and full screen graphics show thus making MidWavi Pro the ultimate screen saver as well. Coupled to the search option are Play and Display Lists that preserve your selections and can be saved and loaded back in for future use (see the "MidWavi Pro Play Lists.Txt" file or on-line Help for full details). A Registered version is required to actually "play" a Play/Display List. The audio CD player can be programmed to play up to thirty tracks in a variety of ways, and up to 99 tracks can be played in all. You can also cue (position) a track to within one second of your desired play time. For some of its functionality, MidWavi Pro requires that you have IE5 - IE6 recommended - (and hence the Windows Media Player Version 6.x or later) installed (might work with IE4 but not tested). MidWavi Pro assumes you have a working sound card and CD drive (MidWavi Pro will not run at all if no CD drive is detected) and is suitable only for Windows 95/98/Me/NT 4/2000 and XP. In addition, MidWavi Pro will not run if it detects that Windows 95/98/Me/NT 4/2000/XP has been set-up to use 'Large Fonts'. If this is the case, and you wish to run MidWavi Pro, you must go to 'Display Properties' then the 'Settings' tab and change the 'Font Size' setting from 'Large Fonts' to 'Small Fonts'. (Hint: the quickest way to get to the 'Display Properties' window is to single right mouse click ON THE DESKTOP and take the 'Properties' option). Not all sound and video files are created equal (particularly AVI and MOV files) so if any problems are experienced, try running the same file with the Windows Media Player Version 6.x or later provided with Windows 95/98/Me/NT 4/2000/XP - if the problem persists, you may have found a rouge file! It is strongly recommended that you turn "Auto insert notification"/"Auto Play" OFF. This will prevent the CD player supplied with Windows 95/98/Me/NT 4/2000/XP from starting up every time you insert an audio CD (for details on how to achieve this see on-line Help) Only one instance of MidWavi Pro can be run (indeed, if MidWavi Pro detects itself, or another program is already using the CD drive when MidWavi Pro is launched, the most recently launched copy of MidWavi Pro will offer a message, then close down). Currently, supported video format is AVI, MOV and MPEG *.mpg & *.dat (Window 98/95/Me/NT 4/2000 and XP - see the FAQ text file for more details), sound files AU, MED, MID, MPEG (*.mp2 & *.mp3) and WAV and graphic files of type BMP, FIF, ICO, JPG and WMF. MidWavi Pro is freely distributable Shareware (see more below for registration details). =============================================================================================== Non Registered version restrictions: ----------------------------------- 1. No full disk ("Search Drive" option) searching for FIF, MED, MPEG and WMA files (but you can select from a directory)...all other types may be searched for using the powerful "Search Drive" option - see On-Line Help. 2. UNREGISTERED versions will only Print graphics at their original size (but you can do a screen preview). 3. Whilst you can build and save Play Lists and Display Lists, you cannot actually "play" them. 30 day trial. =============================================================================================== To register your own personalised copy of MidWavi Pro ----------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Special Price Reduction for this version: MidWavi Pro costs £12.00 (twelve pounds sterling), $18.00 (eighteen dollars) or 20 Euros to fully register.
